This was part of a fun personal project. Because of lockdown, I had missed a handful of friends’ birthdays. So I decided to put together an Animal Crossing themed set of gifts. As part of the room decoration, I made this sign from paper flowers, a wooden sign, red paint and garden sign styled craft pieces.
These were two pieces of illustration/typography pieces I worked on during the lockdown just for fun. I got addicted to playing the home workout game ‘Ring Fit Adventure’ and loved the design of the characters. The first one is original and was an experiment in working with different opacities and flame effects. The second one is inspired by the logo for the game Sonic Adventure 2 and was mostly an experiment in typography, as well as practice replicating design work with typography.
This was just a quick, fun piece of craft design work that I made to customise a friend’s birthday card. I used Sharpies to draw the caution border, copied the in-game font with a pen and then the crewmate character itself was made from different thicknesses of card, some matt and some gloss. I then used pen to add the thin borders and scribble shadows.
This time, I have included some of the logos on their own, as well as them edited into existing photos. This shows the brands acting on their own, as well as acting in real life environments and situations.
Rather than just stick to making the logos on their own, I decided it would be more professional looking to edit the logos onto branded items. This way, it’s almost like a mock-up for what the company could sell or have in their offices. This was very fun to do and it allowed me to further develop my Photoshop skills and practice with textures and layering. Overall, I can say that I’m very happy with how this project is going and I can’t wait to work on more!
For this year, I decided to alter the popular “InkTober” challenge and instead do my own idea of “BrandTober!” This means that I’ll still be using the InkTober prompt words, but instead of an illustration, I’ll be coming up with a different brand for every word. Some will have icons, others just typography, but all will be original designs of my own. So far, I’ve been having a lot of fun with it! Here are the first ten logos that I’ve produced so far. Making every one unique and a different style has really helped me experiment with various branding techniques. Seen here are just the logos themselves.
